Image and Spatial Data Analysis Division
Michal has a PhD degree in Physics from the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, May 1997. He has been with the Department of Physics at UIUC as a research assistant professor since 1998 and with NCSA since September 2007. Michal has worked on managing and processing large volumes of images and the use of web technologies such as XML/AJAX, PHP, MySQL for web deployment of complex data. Michal has been leading the analysis of 2D engineering drawings, their OCR analysis, and the ontology design for metadata extraction over the past year.
